That record date is Oct. The payment date for the Special Dividend will be November 1, the "Payment Date" , Shareholders of record of Dell common stock that are entitled to receive the distribution of VMware Class A common stock as part of the Spin-off will not be entitled to the cash dividend. Does anyone understand the fluctuation of todays stock price? I was thinking at first the stock would drop the same amount of the dividend which it started to drop in that direction but then it jumped up 7. I have never been a part of a stock where there is such a large dividend pay-out.
