Seems they have fixed the glitches I read about. It seems that it only takes a sec every 4 hours to collect shards, so I would not call it time consuming, you just have to make note of what time to come back and collect and restart the action. I did this for the recent hotel prize the hideous black and gold thing and it was worth millions when I sold everything.
Totally worth it! I am really disappointed to hear that this event will have to be done three times in order to build all the high rises. I thought the instructions said he would dig up a shard every hour. But he seems to only dig at the same time frame as the sims 3 hours 55 minutes. Do you know how I can start the site 3 and 4?? I refuse to pay for it as I think they are trying to cheat us out of our money by deliberately making us run out of time.

Re: toddler life dream.. My toddler played all day and didn't get very far. You see the most significant additions with long tasks. But as long as you see the little blue cloud appear after they finish, some percentage is added. Everything is rounded down to the nearest number. You are right that the tasks take ages, but you have a life-time to finish the orb. Playing with blocks builds the motor skill for children and the logic skill for older Sims. Even though it is categorized as a children's toy, older Sims can play with it without any children present.
The object's in-game description says that it can only be used by toddlers and that it builds their imagination skill. However, toddlers are unable to use the object until older Sims have finished building a structure on it.

I really like empty plots- I buy a lot of them as I like creating my own houses but for this you do have to save up your money! I edited my sanctuary to make it better, it had 4 separate rooms: a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room- so now the owner has everything they need.
With mostly 2 or 3 star items and a really nice garden it feels more like a home! One of my favourite houses, I really like this house- mainly because there is a skateboard ramp in the garden! I have edited this house and turned it into a teenage dream skater pad as two of my teenage sims live here. You can see more pictures of my edited house and a house plan on my house designs page. This is a one bedroom castle styled house- I think it works really well. It is an interesting shape and it does look like an castle, apart from lighting, the kitchen and bathroom appliances it is a traditional house, there is no TV but a chess set for entertainment.
